Guitar Tricks has been providing guitar lessons online since the late nineties. They have over 1500 hours of content contributed from more than 45 instructors.
Similar to JamPlay you can watch beginner acoustic and electric lessons then advance to intermediate rock, country or blues lessons. They also have a nice sized song lesson category which is growing each month.
The down sides to Guitar Tricks is their videos aren’t as interactive as JamPlay’s. JamPlay uses a lot of split screen technology and close up shots when explaining particular techniques, Guitar Tricks doesn’t do that as often.
Also the bonus practice tools and lessons available inside the members area at JamPlay is lacking at Guitar Tricks. How ever Guitar Tricks is $5 less per month, so still a great value for beginner and intermediate guitar players.
NOTE: Right now there is a 14 Day Free Trial promotion at GuitarTricks.com
Jamorama is one of the most discussed learn guitar online courses on the web. Why? Well it’s been around for a long time, since 2003, how ever they haven’t made the upgrade to a full video course yet which is putting it behind both JamPlay and Guitar Tricks.
Jamorama uses a mixture of lesson books and video clips to teach you beginner chords, scales and songs. While some students find this method effective most beginners we’ve talked to prefer the full video instruction offered by sites like Guitar Tricks and JamPlay.
Also Jamorama lacks the intermediate lesson topics such as blues, rock, metal and country that other online guitar lesson sites provide.
